We, at AWS, want to ensure the puppies we sell go to good homes where they will be treated properly and lovingly. Therefore, we have some questions we will ask you in addition to the general questions asked by a seller.
1. Where will the puppy be housed?
2. What are your plans for this puppy?
3. Will the puppy be around children?
4. Do you have other animals?
Our adult dogs are part of our family and they are our pets - not kennel dogs. They are house broken and stay inside at night. During the daytime our dogs have lots of running room in our 2 ½ acre fenced yard.
We socialize all the puppies with children and adults of both sexes. We take the puppies into the community to expose them to additional people and begin learning to ride in a vehicle without fear. This is also an opportunity for the puppy to learn to walk on a leash. We teach the puppies to climb steps and come into and out of the house with the other dogs in our family. We condition to loud noises so as not to be afraid. We expose the puppies, at about 5 weeks of age, to the other dogs in our family - to begin socializing them with other family pets. This is done with very close supervision to ensure the bigger dogs do not hurt the puppies. The puppies are also taught to come and go in and out of a doggie door. We bring the puppies in the house to expose them to the common noises in a home such as the vacuum sweeper, washer/dryer, TV’s, stereos, etc.
As we work with our puppies and watch them grow - we also take note of their personalities developing. This enables me to help you pick the puppy that would suit your wants and needs the best. It is a great joy for me to watch our puppies grow and develop their own individual personalities. I keep this in mind as I am talking to you about what you are looking for in your new puppy.
